A wiki (wɪki/ WIK-ee) is a website which allows collaborative modification of its content and structure directly from the web browser. In a typical wiki, text is written using a simplified markup language (known as "wiki markup")The markup language used on a Wiki page is most commonly called Wiki Syntax. It uses common characters in uncommon ways (or character combinations that are not normally used together) and provides them with a special meaning. Some of the character combinations only work at the beginning of a line, while others can be inserted anywhere in the text and are active until they are turned off., and often edited with the help of a rich-text editor. A wiki Web site operates on a principle of collaborative trust. The simplest wiki programs allow users to create and edit content. The most popular wiki is Wikipedia.

An open wiki is a great way to impart knowledge, and collaborate on research projects in any given field of interest. When a group of people come together and share and discuss ideas about a subject, there is no end to the depth or layers of knowledge that can develop. The process of editing, sharing, and imparting knowledge for others to use and create upon is how subjects are expanded and accuracy is gained. This is called, Wiki.
